Rastreo is the practice of following a trace. In mesa traditions and San Pedro ceremonies, it is used to search for what has been lost, forgotten, or displaced. Through objects, images, and signs, the curandero maps a path toward recovery and return.
In this work, Curiwarmi appears as a guide through memory. The projected image and woven forms create a space where ancestral knowledge can be sought and reawakened. A black thread extends from the figure into the gallery, becoming both a line of connection and a gesture of remembrance.
The thread traces a passage between material presence and spiritual evocation. It follows the pathways through which memory travels, carrying fragments of knowledge inherited across generations. Rather than recovering a fixed past, the work proposes rastreo as an ongoing act of listening, remembering, and reconnecting with ancestral ways of knowing.
